Dear beloved Joanne, your words and your grief have touched my heart. If it were possible, I would hold the pain with you. It sounds like she was lucky to find you, who fought to stay with her, and you were lucky that she chose you in a way that helped you grow. As Linehan taught us, sadness is here to tell us that we've lost something, your client is so fortunate that she has this impact on you, not being just a number in a statistical analysis. Even though you don't know me, your big heart, your kindness and your humanity have touched me multiple times since 7/10, and I'm sure I'm only one out of many. Thank you for everything, and thank you for this post.

Thank you for these kind thoughts Keren. I'm very glad what I write here helps my fellow clinicians. I agree that she and I were both very lucky.

Dear Joanne, thank you so much for sharing. I was genuinely touched by your story. It made me think deeply about what the clinic means to me and to my dear clients. I hope to have the opportunity to talk more about these things, which we are so afraid to discuss.

I'm glad you found this helpful in doing the work. It is very hard sometimes and we aren't really able to discuss it.
